TAG Heuer unveils a Tri-Compax chronograph with a in-house movement and a blue ceramic bezel… Pure delightQuick startThe year 2020 marks the 160th anniversary of TAG Heuer and this year is already shaping up to be a great one, especially for the Carrera collection. Launched in 1963, the Carrera is one of the first emblematic lines designed by Jack Heuer. Heuer had been captivated by a Mexican road race known as the Carrera Panamerica. He naturally chose this evocative name, which means “race” or “career”, to enhance his racing chronograph with its sleek and highly legible design. The Carrera chronograph is one of the brand’s best-known timepieces and this range has been constantly enriched over the years in line with fashion and technology. In fact, it is this same Carrera that lends its features to the famous TAG Heuer Connected watch, which has been a tremendous success. The Carrera Chronograph Sport under the microscopeThis new chronograph highlights Tag Heuer’s move upmarket with the generalisation of its in-house caliber, the Heuer 02 chronograph movement equipped with a column-wheel and a power reserve of 80 hours. The very balanced Tri-Compax arrangement of the counters immediately announces the change in colour, but it is when turning the watch over that one immediately understands that a real change has taken place. With an in-house caliber, exceptional decoration: black openworked and engraved oscillating rotor, sumptuous work on the bridges… TAG Heuer has left nothing to chance. This move upmarket is gradual and the value for money of this watch is excellent. The lookThe Carrera Sport Chronograph 44mm Calibre Heuer 02 Automatic is Featuring four variants. This version features a deep blue dial and a highly legible blue ceramic tachymetric bezel. Last but not least, it is equipped with a new H-shaped link bracelet with folding clasp that reinforces its sporty character. This bracelet is thinner than its predecessor and has shorter lugs, which promises a very ergonomic wearing experience despite its 44 mm diameter. The alternation of mirror-polished and brushed finishes is intended to give this new Carrera a slimmer appearance as well. VerdictThis is not the first time that the Carrera has embarked on the in-house Heuer 02 movement. We all remember the tourbillon of 2016, which sent the Swiss watch industry into a state of panic, and the skeleton range released in 2018. This model is certainly less disruptive, but it finds its place within this large family thanks to its price positioning and its “classic” design. This blue version feels the summer and we are delighted to be able to offer it to you on Lepage.fr and in stores!
