Oris presents this limited edition of 2,297 pieces: the Hank Aaron. It pays tribute to the baseball player and great humanist of the same name.A baseball legendWhat a joy it is to present the Hank Aaron Limited Edition, named in honor of the great humanist and baseball player Hank Aaron. Hank never dreamed of being in the limelight, but his exploits on and off the field were always in the spotlight. In 1974, he broke the home-run record, which had been held for nearly 40 years by Babe Ruth. But despite his successes and the adulation that followed, Hank was always appreciated for his grace and humility.A Pointer Date in 40 mmThe Oris Big Crown is a true pillar of the Oris brand. This watch for pilots first appeared in 1938. Its oversized crown (hence the name “Big Crown”) made it easy to grip, even when wearing thick gloves, to enable gloved winding. It was also appreciated for its excellent legibility, thanks to its large cathedral hands and large Arabic numerals. And let’s not forget its railway track and, a little later, its central pointer providing a “Pointer Date” function. This legendary watch is being relaunched by Oris in 2018, 80 years after its creation, to offer a resolutely vintage-style watch that focuses on function while prioritizing legibility. For this limited edition, the brand decided to use this model. The reference 01 754 7785 4081-Set features the traditional 40 mm-diameter steel case, combined with an equally emblematic fluted bezel. This watch is dressed in blue, red and white to echo Hank Aaron’s outfit, and is fitted with a blue leather strap with baseball glove stitching. It is also available with a blue, red and white NATO strap. This model is produced in 2,297 pieces: one for each of Hank’s RBIs (runs batted in), which remains a Major League Baseball record. The watch also supports the work of the Chasing the Dream Foundation. The finishing touch? The back of the box is engraved with the player’s portrait, and the case bears his jersey number!Engine SideThis Big Crown Pointer Date is powered by the Oris Caliber 754, which the brand developed from a Sellita SW201 base to implement the central hand date complication. The time is accurate and the automatic winding is driven by the characteristic red Oris rotor, visible through the sapphire case back. A power reserve of 38 hours is available when the watch is not worn on the wrist. In briefA watch with a timeless design and a diameter of 40 mmAn automatic caliber with a unique Pointer Date complicationA limited edition of 2,297!
