Description
For the first time, a Classics Runabout is adorned in a bright, modern electric blue, as invigorating as sea spray and as refreshing as a ride on the waves. This unprecedented color covers the dial, hands and hour markers, and continues right down to the stitching on the calfskin strap. This new 36 mm variation is available in an edition of 1888.A collection inspired by timeless Runabout boatsSince 2009, Frédérique Constant has been collaborating with the Riva Historical Society: a Milan-based association, founded in 1988, dedicated to the preservation and restoration of classic Runabout boats that were designed by boating enthusiast Mr. Carlo Riva. Piero Mario Gibellini and Carlos Riva founded this non-profit organization, whose aim is to preserve the worldwide heritage of this established legacy. To celebrate this partnership, Frédérique Constant creates a limited edition Runabout timepiece each year, inspired by the timeless Runabout boats of the 1920s. These handcrafted wooden motorboats take you on an adventure of Italian dolce vita. The two brands share the same values of precise engineering and elegant, timeless design.Luxurious designThis Runabout model features a 36mm steel case, an ideal size and a far cry from the standard 42mm diameter “Runabout”. Its case is polished to recall the lustrous look of runabouts. Protected by a convex sapphire crystal, the black dial features Manufacture Frederique Constant’s unmistakable “studded” guilloché pattern. The Arabic numerals, hour-markers and hands are finished with a luminous treatment. The final detail of the dial is the date window at six o’clock. The minutes appear on the outer edge of the dial. An elegant detail, the transparent sapphire crystal caseback, reveals the automatic mechanism. It is distinguished by the presence of the pavilion engraved with the RHS logo.Mechanism sideThis Runabout Automatic embeds the self-winding FC-303 caliber. Beating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, it offers a comfortable 38-hour power reserve, but above all an attractive finish. Visible through its transparent caseback, the timepiece exposes its mechanical intimacy and the finishes dear to the Geneva manufacture, such as Côtes de Genève and perlage, without limit.A sublime wooden caseTrue to tradition, this model comes in a special limited-edition box containing a miniature wooden replica of a runabout. A tribute to the iconic design of the sports boats of the Roaring Twenties. In brief:A sport-chic watch with timeless styleA limited edition of 1,888A sumptuous case
